The Marketing Department

There’s No ‘I’ in TMD...

Our talented team provides expertise in all facets of marketing and communications, from client services and administrative support through creative services, including traditional print production and multimedia solutions.

While our specialties may vary, our goal is the same: to help develop your business through effective marketing.

Leadership

Randy Timmins

President

It’s no wonder Randy loves classic cars. They’re just like principles of business communication: timeless.

While the means of communicating are changing rapidly, the effect of good communication hasn’t. As our President, Randy gets that better than anyone.

A graduate of Western University and one of the founders of TMD, he has committed himself to serving our clients by developing their businesses through effective marketing.

For more than 15 years, he and our Client Services team have provided the kind of customer service and creative solutions that have clients returning to us year after year. This success is found in the longevity of our client relationships. And the longevity of those client relationships has a lot to do with Randy.

Joseph Farina

Creative Director

Competitor. Captain. Creator! Do you know Joe? For the clients who’ve known our Director of Creative Services over the years, they know the quality of marketing collateral that’s regularly produced by his roster of talented graphic designers and one particularly clever copywriter. All hand-selected by him.

A graduate of Fanshawe College, Joe is equally at home in the boardroom as he is on the soccer field. Whether kicking the ball around or developing concepts for our newest client, his goal is simple: to be the best.

The shelf of awards TMD has garnered over the years is testament to the high standards Joe establishes and maintains by being a hands-on director.

His competitive streak benefits our clients because when we win, you do, too.

Client Services

David Cliche

Vice President, Strategy & Client Services

Strategic thinker. Deep-dish pizza lover. Soldier. Wine snob? Our Cliche is anything but formulaic. With plenty of strategic insight and an affinity for data, Dave’s an action-oriented team player.

A graduate of Royal Roads Military College, the University of Guelph, and Humber College’s post-graduate Communications and Public Relations Program, as our VP of Strategy and Client Services he brings to the table more than a decade of delivering marketing solutions that deliver results. Real results... The kind your CFO will get excited about.

This big proponent of planning believes that the Roman Empire ruled the world for so long because they had roads and toilets. We believe that’s one of the funniest things we’ve heard since the fall of Rome.

Maija Craig

Director, Strategy & Client Service

As a Director, Strategy & Client Services, Maija Craig has a stellar track record of success.  Her leadership in the areas of marketing, communications, business development - and fundraising and development - have been aptly applied through her work with a diverse range of organizations including leading academic and health care institutions in Canada, the US and Europe.

A graduate of the University of Toronto (Trinity College), Maija has the proven ability to establish and cultivate partnerships with new and existing clients, particularly those who share her belief that effective marketing is fundamental in the pursuit of organizational success.

For Maija, it really is all about relationships.  So why not get connected? You'll no doubt learn a lot, you'll have a good time, and you just might find, you get what you need.

Audrey McLoughlin

Client Services Manager

Head cheerleader. Morale monitor. Marketing & Client Services Manager. Audrey is all those things and more to TMD. And her positive attitude and enthusiasm are only outshone by her passion for providing stellar marketing support to our varied client base.

With an honours degree from Western University as well as a post-graduate certificate in Corporate Communications and Public Relations from Fanshawe College, Audrey plays a huge part in the daily happenings in and around the office.

Her keen understanding of each client's unique needs, knack for diplomacy and love of cheesy puns make her not only an invaluable member of our Client Services team but a blast to work with, too.

Nancy Joyal

Manager, PR & Special Projects

Keeping projects – and people – in line and on time isn't a glamorous job, but someone's got to do it. And we're glad it's Nancy. Her affable nature makes her the perfect person to check in on projects until they're done.

With a business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and experience in marketing, promotions and communications, she's a Project Manager, with a sharp focus on public relations and special projects.

Indeed, her eye for detail and strict adherence to timelines helps us exceed the expectations of our clients. And if you're nice, she may offer you some gardening tips, too.

Jodi Morris

Client Services Manager

One look at Jodelle and it's clear she comes from a different kind of design background.

Our resident fashionista, Jodi (as we like to call her) is one of our Client Services Managers and a graduate of Fanshawe College's Fashion Merchandising Program. And during her stint in the fashion industry, she gained valuable experience in brand marketing, PR and event planning.

She makes multi-tasking – and looking stylish – look simple, helping the Creative Services and Client Services teams stay on track, on time and on budget.

Lisa Moore

Client Services Coordinator

As a member of Client Services, Lisa helps our team run on track and achieve our clients’ goals. A competitive fitness enthusiast, she’s well qualified to keep results in focus—and whip any stragglers into shape.

Seriously. Her claim to fame is that she can flip a 260 lb. tractor tire five times in 15 seconds, which means we tread lightly around her and rarely make eye contact. Just kidding.

Lisa’s beaming smile and affable nature are two big pluses of having her on our team. Not to mention, she has “mad organizational skills” and a keen eye for detail that benefit our team and our clients.

Creative

Craig Forsey

Associate Creative Director

Serious talent in a not-so-serious package, our Associate Creative Director, Craig, is many things to many people. But to us, he is the rudder that keeps this ship on course. And he's been aboard since TMD launched many years ago.

Craig attended the Ontario College of Art, and while his fine-art training is a huge asset, it's his quick wit, surprisingly good hearing and gift for communication that come in handy on a daily basis at TMD.

Equally adept at managing his team as he is at developing award-winning creative for our various clients, he has elevated multi-tasking to an art form. Of course, being a natural clown, juggling should come easy to him.

Mathew Hodgins

Senior Designer

We don’t call the space where Mathew works the Mat Cave for nothing. It’s a dark corner inhabited by animated characters, including the man himself. And when the “mat phone” rings looking for help, you know something super is about to happen.

A graduate of St. Clair College’s Graphic Design program, Mat is a versatile Senior Designer with many years of experience developing eye-catching creative that consistently exceeds clients’ expectations.

His favourite things include the Toronto Blue Jays, Christmas and diet cola. Turn-offs include bright light, the New York Yankees and supervillains. (Who are we kidding, those last two are one and the same.)

Ruth Murphy

Senior Designer

This humble Irish lady took the circuitous route to get to TMD. After graduating from the National College of Art & Design in Dublin, she travelled through Europe, lived in Spain, lived in Portugal and spent a summer visiting Morocco, Vietnam and South Africa before finding The Marketing Department in London, Ontario.

After owning her own business for many years, Ruth was happy to shed her multiple roles and focus on design. In her role as senior designer, Ruth brings her creativity, breadth of experience and photography skills to TMD’s design team. But it’s her unique way of looking at the world that Ruth says is her greatest asset. When beginning a new project, Ruth says she tries to avoid A to B thinking. In design, as in life, sometimes the circuitous route is best.

Mike Scott

Designer

Mike's creative outlets range from film to computer screen to cake pan. No kidding. The man is renowned for some serious talent in the kitchen. But that’s just the proverbial icing because Mike is first and foremost one of our talented Graphic Designers.

In his role, Mike shares with TMD – and our many clients – a knack for creating impactful designs that emphasize clean visuals and an attention to typography. His formal training in both graphic design and interactive media make him a multitalented designer and valuable asset to our award-winning Creative Services team.

Mike says that although he is conspicuously quiet, he promises he’s not plotting anything...except for some awe-inspiring designs – and, we hope, a delicious chocolate cake to feed about 20.

Digital

Darren Gould

Digital Solutions Director

Darren may very well be the most talented man to come from Birmingham, England, since Ozzy Osbourne. But he's MUCH easier to understand. In fact, one of the key qualities our talented Digital Solutions Manager possesses that helps us – and our clients – is an ability to explain complicated web-related “stuff” in simple terms.

A graduate of Solihull College in England, he has an eye for design, too, having both training and experience in graphic design, as well as web design, programming and usability.

What do we like best about Darren? Well, for one, he doesn't mind when we fake an English accent around him… At least we don't think he minds.

Erin Jóhannson

Digital & Social Media Specialist

Remember that volcanic eruption in Iceland that shut down major airports across Europe in 2010? Erin was there. And not at one of the airports. She was at the volcano...While it was erupting. How cool is that?

Born in Calgary and raised in London, our social media coordinator is a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie and passionate communicator who loves gadgets, live music, and crawling around in lava tubes.

A graduate of Fanshawe College’s Technical Writing program, Erin has experience in social media strategy and writing, and is fluent in both English and code – a bonus for our Digital team. Indeed, she’s the one we turn to when we need something expressed in 140 characters – more or less.

Mike Gossmann

Web Developer

Mike dreams in code. His obsession with computers began before he could button his own clothes. Even in his spare time, you’ll find him developing video games in a hobby club. If he were forced to live in a world without computers, he would be a watch maker because it’s kind of like coding (really?).

Fortunately for Mike, there are lots of computers at TMD. When it comes to websites, his strength is back-end development (making them work). He’s less concerned about the aesthetics of design (making them look pretty) – good thing we have a whack of creative types to worry about that! Michael’s rapid learning style and his experience in a wide variety of digital technologies complement an already robust web team.

Along with the computers, Mike enjoys the century-home character of TMD’s office and the casual dress code. Now, if we could just get him to button up his shirts…

Production

Link Malott

Director, Operations

If March Madness was contagious, we’d have to quarantine our offices each spring thanks to Link’s passion for – nay, obsession with – Men’s NCAA basketball.

As our Director of Operations, Link is responsible for overseeing TMD’s daily workings – from pricing and quoting, to traffic and production. ... And keeping us updated on team rankings, KISS trivia and other miscellaneous pop culture-y stuff.

A graduate of St. Lawrence College with experience in printing and production, his professional passion is implementing changes and improvements in our processes to help ensure that TMD continues to provide exceptional service to our many valued clients.

Nik Callender

Production Designer

Reliable. Organized. Forward-looking. Whenever things get crazy-busy and we’re not sure what day it is, we turn to our Callendar to figure things out.

A native of Scotland, Nik’s technical skill and artistic eye make him a truly valuable Production Designer – and our resident go-to guy. Our Creative Services team benefits from his vast knowledge of various design applications.

And though he doesn’t talk much, when he does, his stories usually leave us laughing.

Administrative

Margo Visser

Director, Administration, Finance & Human Resources

Did you see that? That quick flash of light that illuminates our office is our Administrative Manager, Margo. Even among our stellar group of coworkers, she stands out like Halley’s Comet. And we can’t help but marvel at her energy and glow.

A graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Margo is the “overseer” of our administrative systems. Responsible for running our accounting, information management and reporting programs she supports our reputation for outstanding client service and accountability.

She takes our internal stewardship seriously. Thankfully, that’s about all she takes seriously. Indeed, due diligence has never been so cheery.

Diane Allen

Administration Manager

If the TMD welcome wagon has a driver, it is Diane. As our Administrative & Office Manager, she kick starts each day for us with a hearty “Good morning,” and greets clients with a friendly “Hello” in reception.

But she’s so much more than that. She’s a driving force that keeps this place well-oiled by managing both our accounting and administrative responsibilities.

With a diploma from Fanshawe College in both Accounting and Business Administration, she has the ideal mix of knowledge, experience and business savvy to help ensure the TMD machine is running smoothly.

Julie Minifie

Administrative Assistant

Quick-witted, saucy and sharp, if our Administrative Assistant Julie joins a conversation, you know belly laughs will soon follow. She studied at Fanshawe College and worked as a legal clerk and in administrative positions before arriving at TMD. And boy, are we glad she landed here.

The perfect combination of professional and personable, Julie uses her organizational skills, diplomacy and an uncanny ability to anticipate what’s needed to help everyone in the office effectively and efficiently serve our clients.

She’s one of the first faces to greet visitors at our office. But if she isn’t at her desk, you can find her by following the sound of laughter.
